Oak Ridge scientists and engineers had strong reservations about sodium cooled reactors, and focused on the dangers of sodium coolant. The concerns were first expressed by the first ORNL research director, Eugene Wigner. Wigner has to be regarded as an authority because he invented the sodium cooked reactor. At ORNL they felt that a better, safer fast breeder would us Liquid Chloride Salts as its coolant/fuel carrier.Charles Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01125297013064527425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597656451205429515.post-74608485408995132542009-05-16T06:32:00.000-05:002009-05-16T06:32:00.000-05:00I think we should use IFRs (or something similar) ...I think we should use IFRs (or something similar) for one-third of our electricity requirements - LFTRs would get the other two-thirds...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597656451205429515.post-40706009306878382712009-05-13T11:19:00.000-05:002009-05-13T11:19:00.000-05:00Charles
