The wind is always blowing somewhere

For those of you who believe that the wind is always blowing somewhere, please note that no wind sourced electricity was being generated in either Germany or the American Pacific North West at midnight today. It would be interesting if you can come up with data from other places.

    Here's some trivia for you: because of the hairy ball theorem there are always at least two places on earth where the wind is not blowing.

    The question is not so much whether the wind is always blowing somewhere, the question is to what extent geographic dispersion of wind generators can improve the effective load carrying capacity of wind on a grid. How much savings on storage, grid investments etc for a wind supply curve (% wind on the grid) need to be answered.
