Update on Charles Barton, Sr.

I have a chance to talk with my father yesterday, and I talked to him about my Friday post on his pioneering molten salt research. We also discussed some of the other milestones in his life. During the conversation, my father had a little cough. This morning my brother David called to say that he had just talked to Daddy's wife, Anna Kate, who had just called him to say that Daddy had been hospitalized last night with a serious case of pneumonia. The hospital has been given a no heroic measures directive.

charlesB,

Sounds to me like your father has had a very productive life. He leaves children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that are proud of him.

I hope for the same someday.

Sorry to hear about your father. It's likely he will pull through. That has happened with my father. May I suggest the doctors should check for another cause that might also have be a factor. If your father is a smoker they should check for a lung tumor. Tumors can suppress the immune system thereby making it more likely someone will develop pnuemonia. Check with lef.org for some info.

My father may have smoked a little corn silk when he was a boy, but he was never as smoker.
