I can answer your questions with one word. Politics. Just look where most of these new turbines are being installed. The midwest. Each of these states have two senators, many of them Democrats. Regardless how well these turbines perform they are still a major source of new jobs, especially now that we are entering a jobless recovery. So if Obama wants a chance to pass his agenda he must pass out the pork and wind turbines are just another form of butchering the hog.
BTW I don't want to sound like I am dumping on the Dems because the Republicans are the supreme masters of playing pass the pork game.
