An increasing number of Nuclear Green comments get classified as junk and shuttled off to some Google simi-limbo. When I attempt to retrieve them, they all too frequently disappear completely. My apology to my commenters. I do not censor comments unless they are in bad taste, but on the internet bad things inadvertently happen.
Update: EfT comments are now up, but June and July comments are missing.

The 'Energy From Thorium Discussion Forum' is still down due to server issues.
Seems to be down again, I got an account suspended message.
The "energy from thorium" site is completely down again. A message just states that the account has been suspended.
I had thought Kirk had finished switching providers so not sure what the problem is now.
I hope it is back up soon.

OK, hopefully a false alarm. Kirk's site is back up again only a few hours after it went down.

While safety in the nuclear industry has vastly improved, I don't think the costs have gone down, on the contrary they've gone up. I believe the estimated cost of a Gen III+ reactor is now $5,000-6,000 per installed kWe.
The build time has also increased, I'm trying to work out how long the Finnish reactor's taken, but its just too depressing.
Waste disposal is still an issue, largely due to the cancellation of Yucca mountain.
The case for nuclear is not helped by ignoring these two problems.
P. Joe, it always amazes me the extent to which renewable advocates are in denial about the weakness of their case. First, levelized cost of reliable nuclear electricity is lower than the levelized cost of reliable renewable energy. This is not a problem for the critics of nuclear power? Secondly there have been numerous discussions in Nuclear Green of approaches to nuclear cost lowering. There is no real nuclear waste disposal problem. The so called nuclear waste problem is political rather than technological, and has to do with the fact that the fanatic opponents of nuclear power are putting every possible obstacle to the success of nuclear power.
